12/1/2002 - Rochester Chapter NRHS receives grant for new exhibit
The Rochester Chapter NRHS is pleased to announce that it has been the recipient of a $2500.00 grant to help fund a new exhibit planned for its Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum called Farm to Market. Farm to Market will be designed to demonstrate the role railroads played in the development of the interior of Western New York especially in the providing a route to market for agricultural commodities. Plans are to demonstrate the handling and shipping of four separate commodities: milk, hay, dry beans and apples. This will be done through the construction of the display inside a yet to be acquired railroad box car which the Rochester Chapter is currently seeking to acquire through donation or purchase.

The Rochester Chapter NRHS would like to thank the Max Gonsenhauser Memorial Fund and the Faye Gonsenhauser Charitable Checking Account for their generosity! The Rochester Chapter NRHS would also like to thank the Rochester Area Community Foundation for their help in facilitating this grant to the Rochester Chapter.

Farm to Market is planned to debut in May of 2005. If you have any materials, ideas or leads on available boxcars, please feel free to contact us.
